About Dzeal Chess
Learning chess should be easy to start, complete enough to take you all the way, and fun every step of the way.
Dzeal Chess is a free, browser-based chess course. Instead of throwing you into full games, it teaches one small skill at a time: the names of things, the squares, how pieces move, how to write moves down, how to find good moves, and finally how to play without looking at the board. Each step removes one support, until the whole game lives in your head.
Our three promises
😊 Easy
Small steps, short questions and instant explanations. Start as a guest in seconds, with no download, account or chess knowledge needed. Pass marks are generous, mistakes come back as retries, and hints are there when you are stuck.
🧩 Complete
From “what is a rook?” to blindfold play: vocabulary, coordinates, notation, tactics and full games, in one connected path. Every level has Easy, Medium and Expert paths, so a hobby player and a future club champion both get a full course.
🎉 Fun
Bronze, silver and gold badges to share, streaks that earn hint tokens, no repeated questions, and a quick daily warm-up that keeps it fresh. Learn at your own pace and aim as high as you like.
Who we are
Dzeal Chess is made by Dzeal Private Limited, an Indian company led by Dr. Lavkesh Bansal. We build practical tools that make everyday learning and work simpler. Our other products include Emaki, which turns images into narrated videos.
Dzeal Chess started from a simple idea: most people never learn to read and write chess moves, and that is exactly what opens up books, videos, puzzles and online play. So we built the course we wished we had, step by step and without the overwhelm.
Who it is for
- Complete beginners who want to learn the rules properly.
- Casual players who want to read notation and follow chess videos and books.
- Parents and teachers looking for a calm, step-by-step way for learners to practise.
- Improving players aiming for tactics, calculation and blindfold play.
How we keep it fair
- The core course is free, and you can learn without signing in.
- We collect as little data as possible and never sell it. See our privacy policy.
- Level 4 puzzles come from the open Lichess puzzle database (public domain), checked with the Stockfish engine. Thank you to the Lichess and Stockfish communities.
